This female moose and her yearling calf have taken up residence just west of Calgary and are now a bit of a fixture.

Early in the spring this pair of Canada Geese enjoy the calm of a warm day before the rigors of raising a family become a priority.

According to Nature Canada people living in neighborhoods with more birds are less likely to suffer depression, anxiety, and stress. While being somewhat subdued in coloration the Song Sparrow makes up for it by being bold, friendly, and filling our neighborhoods with song.

The birds of summer are starting to arrive and the threat of freezing weather has diminished.  Can spring be far behind?

On the West Coast in the winter these striking ducks are common visitors.  In the summer they move inland and nest in holes in trees. Normally, these birds keep a healthy distance but by sitting quietly on the shoreline they will often come close enough to get a good picture.
