All About the Pelicans
One of the highlights of a trip to Frank Lake this time of year is the chance to watch the pelicans. On this day earlier this week there were approximately 300 of these large beautiful birds resting, fishing and squabbling on the Lake.
Canada Jay
Canada Jays were previously called Gray Jays. They nest early in the season and only have one brood per year. This juvenile and its three siblings were actively foraging with their parents in early May.
Just Another Robin
While Robins are common, it is still possible to get interesting pictures of them in action.
Black-necked Stilt
Frank Lake in Alberta is a busy place in the spring as shorebirds, gulls, pelicans, ducks and geese congregate for the breeding season. Common on the lake are nesting and feeding Black-necked Stilts.
Bald Eagle
This Bald Eagle found something of interest on the shore. Showing little concern for our presence s/he flew in to check it out.
