Sunset on the Ranch

The general store at the old village of Glenbow in the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, Alberta.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is a provincial park located between Calgary and Cochrane that is now a working ranch.  In the early 1900s the village of Glenbow was established here to quarry sandstone.  It survived until around 1920.  The building in this picture is the original store and post office first opened in 1909.

Prairie sunsets are spectacular in this part of the world.  To me this picture captures both the beauty and history of the Park.  From a distance it is almost abstract but as you get closer the detail of the old store captures attention.
